What is a geriatric care manager?
A geriatric care manager is a health and human services professional, such as a gerontologist, social worker, counselor, or nurse, with a specialized body of knowledge and experience related to aging and elder care issues. Their goal is to assist older adults in attaining their maximum functional capacity. The geriatric care manager provides care coordination and support services, while being sensitive to preserving the dignity and respect of the individual. In addition, they serve as an experienced guide and resource for families of older adults and others with specialized needs.
Do I really need a geriatric care manager?
Before making the effort, step back a moment and try to determine whether you actually have a problem in which a professional geriatric care manager is needed.
- Do you have time, inclination, and skills to manage the problems yourself?
- Have the issues that you or your loved ones encountered become larger and more complex than you can comfortably manage?
- Are you unable to provide the desired level of supervision and attention to your loved one's needs?
If you have answered yes to any of these questions, please contact Senior Care Concepts Inc. and let us assist you.
